Welcome!
Our lab focuses on the behavioural ecology of the Superb and the Albert's lyrebird (family: Menuridae), and their close relatives, throughout Australia.
We are particularly interested in vocal mimicry, multimodal signalling, and the patterns and processes of cultural evolution. We examine these topics within and between sexes, populations, and species.
Please have a look around the rest of our website for further information about lyrebirds, our research, our publications, and the people involved!
We are physically based at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University. The university is ranked 1st in the world by the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for its success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is also ranked 2nd in Australia for Ecology in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), with Ecology being the core strength of the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment.
